Sourdough Spelt bread. Is spelt sourdough bread good for you? One of the things we love about this spelt sourdough bread recipe is that whole wheat spelt flour gives this loaf extra points for nutrition! Spelt is high in fiber, protein, zinc, iron, and other vitamins and minerals.
We made a few adaptations, and were extra pleased with the crispy crust and even-textured interior we gained from baking it in our covered bread loaf baker. Description Our Old Fashioned Sourdough Spelt bread is made with three simple ingredients but nothing is simple when it comes to the taste and benefits of this bread! For people who have IBS, sourdough spelt bread can be a good replacement for normale bread. Wheat and bread made from wheat contain fructans (one of the FODMAP groups) and are high FODMAP (only in small amounts wheat is low FODMAP). Spelt contains fewer fructans than wheat, but is still high in FODMAPs. This recipe uses Whole Grain Spelt Flour leavened with a sourdough starter for maximum health benefits. After trying homemade Sourdough Spelt bread, you'll never want bread from the grocery store again.
